Meet the Bride
Equal parts big dreams, big feelings, and "wait, I have an idea."
Hi, I'm Sneha!
I've never been particularly good at doing anything halfway. If I care about something, whether it's my career, the people I love, a completely unnecessary creative idea, or apparently planning a wedding, I tend to throw my whole heart into it. I'll obsess over the tiniest details, change my mind seventeen times, and somehow still get ridiculously excited when it all comes together.
Growing up between Mumbai and Singapore has shaped a lot of who I am. My family has always been at the centre of my world, and one of my biggest influences has been my dad. Watching him build his career inspired me to enter the maritime industry myself. I may have followed him into the same world, but over time, I found my own ambitions, challenges and reasons to love it.
Outside of that, I'm a bit of a contradiction. I love having a plan, but some of my favourite memories have come from plans that went completely off-script. I can be incredibly particular about the smallest detail and completely unserious about everything else. I love dressing up, but I'm equally happy doing absolutely nothing. And while I can talk to almost anyone, the people closest to me will probably tell you that each of them gets a slightly different version of Sneha.
I think that's because people mean a lot to me. I remember tiny conversations years later, get ridiculously attached to memories, celebrate other people's milestones as if they were my own, and somehow turn completely ordinary moments into stories that will be retold for years. I love loudly, laugh loudly, talk probably a little too much, and will always find an excuse to bring everyone together.
And then there's Arijit.
Somehow, he became the person who gets all the versions of me. The ambitious one, the sentimental one, the dramatic one, the overthinking one, the ridiculous one, and the one who occasionally needs to be told, "Sneha, it really isn't that serious."
He's the person I want to tell the completely insignificant details of my day to, dream ridiculously big with, annoy for absolutely no reason, and come home to when the adventure is over.
Which is pretty impressive considering the first time we met, he forgot I existed.
I have forgiven him. Mostly. ❤️

Meet the Groom
Always up for a long conversation, a spontaneous trip, or learning something completely random just because it sounded interesting.
Hey, I'm Arijit!
I was born and raised in Singapore to Bengali parents who had made the move there from India, and grew up alongside my older sister, who now lives in Australia. Singapore was home throughout my childhood, and growing up there gave me plenty of chances to explore very different sides of myself. I played the trumpet in my secondary school marching band, spent my junior college years in the astronomy club, tried my hand at DJing for a while, and later served two years in the Singapore military as a rocket system operator.
Four years ago, I moved halfway across the world to Boston to pursue a PhD in computer science, working in AI and tech. I've always loved technology and figuring out how things work, but my curiosity rarely stays confined to one subject. History, geopolitics, science, space, or some any cool topic I discover online can send me down a rabbit hole.
I'm also very much a people person. I love meeting new folks, hearing their stories, bringing different groups of friends together, and having the kind of conversations that start casually and somehow continue for hours. Some of my favourite memories have come from exactly that, good company, good conversation, and just chilling.
Outside of work, I love Formula 1, football, science fiction, traveling, and pretty much always having some kind of music playing in the background. My taste is all over the place, from EDM and Bollywood to country, rock, pop punk, and orchestral music, depending entirely on the mood. I'm particularly fond of road trips and weekend escapes away from the city, especially when there is some nature to explore. Life for me is a lot more interesting when there is always something new to discover and when you don't take every moment too seriously. And Sneha is the person I want beside me for all of it, because with her, I can simply be myself, and enjoying all the little moments of life together just feels easy and natural.
July 2022
They met in July 2022, rehearsing dance for a friend's wedding, where Sneha was choreographing and teaching the group and Arijit was learning his part like everyone else. They performed a couple together, and the talking after practice became the part they cared about most, even though the dancing itself took more work. Arijit struggled to pick up the steps, and Sneha ran him through them many times. He says he was confused, though Sneha is fairly sure he was stalling on purpose to get more time alone with her. Luckily, he was a better talker than dancer, otherwise there would be no wedding website for you to RSVP to. When August came and Arijit left Singapore for the US, it felt far too soon.

November 2022
They stayed in touch through the fall, texting and calling across the time difference, and got to know each other in a way they had not had the time for in July. Then Sneha did something wonderfully bold. She took leave from work and flew to Boston to see if what was between them was real in person. That is halfway across the planet for a "maybe". Arijit was flattered. He also wondered, reasonably enough, whether she was a little crazy. It was real. On 11 November 2022, Arijit asked her to be his girlfriend, and she said yes.

December 2022
A quick trip to Batam, Indonesia for some sun and a change of scene. They checked into a resort, took it slow, went jet skiing one afternoon, and spent the rest of the time just being together. Arijit would jet ski every day if he could. Sneha would not. Sneha realized he should not be trusted with a credit card anywhere near a jet ski rental. Their credit score would not survive it.

May 2023
Sneha came back to Boston that spring and stayed for a while. They walked the city, found new places to eat, and took a road trip to Maine with friends. Another weekend they drove down to Newport. By the end of it, Boston felt like hers too, and so did the people in Arijit's life. His friends had met her on video calls before. In person, they liked Sneha immediately. Arijit organized many events that spring and was convinced people came for his plans. They came for Sneha. He had not figured that out yet.

December 2023
That winter they covered a lot of ground, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and then Disneyland. Sneha had wanted to go for years, and this was her first time. Arijit was glad he got to be there with her for it. She loved it. Arijit's job was to keep up and to stop her bank balance disappearing in the souvenir shops. Sneha was buying everything she could. The flight back to Singapore, and its luggage limit, had not occurred to her yet. From LA they drove to Las Vegas for New Year's Eve, and the drive was one of the best parts of the whole trip. They finished the trip in Miami.

October 2024
Long distance is not always easy. Sneha came to Boston that October for a couple of weeks. They saw friends and celebrated Diwali, but some of the parts they remember most were quieter, cooking at home, slow mornings, and the ordinary things they got to do when they were finally in the same place. Boston already felt familiar by then. Those two weeks meant a lot. They tell everyone not to do long distance. The goodbyes are painful, and the sadness that follows is harder than people expect. Ironically, they do not know how to take their own advice any better than they know how to stay put.

August 2025
For Arijit's birthday, Sneha flew in and surprised him at a dinner with his friends. A few days later they left on a spontaneous week-long trip through western Massachusetts and upstate New York, quiet towns, Lake Placid, long stretches of reading on their Kindles, and no real plan beyond seeing where they ended up. Sneha also completed her first real hike. She brings it up often. Never fondly. Arijit considers this one of the trip's great successes in spite of that.

December 2025
Arijit planned a surprise trip to Japan for the two of them. A surprise, in the same way a fireworks show is a surprise if you watch them set it up all afternoon. There was the random trip, and the way Arijit suddenly treated his bag like classified material. Every morning, Sneha asked Arijit what to wear. He never had a preference. The morning of the proposal, he suddenly had several. On 23 December, with Mount Fuji in the background, he proposed. Sneha had probably guessed what was coming. She cried anyway. Knowing did not help. And if you have made it this far, you probably know what she said next. 🙂
